 BLUES
Though I'd been to the venue a few times in 2001 when it was home to Manumission's 24-hour diner, and a few more times in 2002 when it was the only free-entry late-night drinking den in Ibiza Town, it wasn't until 2003 that I clicked why the local kids liked Blues so much. Free entry, good music and cheap drinks! A popular winter venue, Blues is at its best when the big clubs are closed, and local DJs rule, and one of the best bets for hearing music that is at the forefront of dance trends. The picture at the top is from Steven Black's debut at Blues, and the lovely lady below is everybody's favourite bar-keeper, Linda, before she moved on to Pin-Up. I've no idea who the woman sitting on the bar is, but she did sing interestingly over the records!
Although not everyone's cup of tea, Blues comes very highly recommended as the alternative to both the gay scene and the big clubs in Ibiza, and is popular with the island's local crowd, both gay and straight.
