There was a danger that the 2002 list would be considerably shorter than the 2001 list, especially as through most of the summer there appeared to be a complete absence of discernible anthems... I think it took my last trip of the summer to Bora-Bora to make me realise just how many records had been there for me since arriving in Ibiza in April... Enjoy! |
Lazy X-Press 2 featuring David Byrne
This is the one we were beginning to think would be the only anthem of the summer. In and out of the UK charts before the season had even started in Ibiza, it became one of the most familiar anthems of the summer, packing the terrace of Space, the darkened cavern of Lucifer, Amnesia, Privilege, and even Anfora! Not heard it anywhere since geting back to London, but the impact of a track on Ibiza doesn't always reverberate into the lesser world...
Love Story Layo & Bushwacka!
Finally getting the recognition it deserves in the UK clubs, this is possibly the best floor-filler of the entire summer in Ibiza! Most familiar from Space, Gorgeous and Bora-Bora it had the perfect balance of sunshine and darkness that summed up the dancefloors throughout 2002.
Funk-A-Tron (Drop That Funk) R. Rivera's Grooves
Insatiable Thick Dick
Sweet Temptation Feela
Lights Off Loudeast
At Night Shakedown
Known best as 'So Special' or 'Much Better', either of which, any of us who spent hours hunting through Ibiza's painfully organised record shops looking for the track, or humming a few bars to chuckling record dealers, you'd agree would have been a better choice of name
That Feeling DJ Chus presents The Groove Foundation
Shiny Disco Balls Who Da Funk feat. Jessica Eve
I Will Follow Una Mast
Chick On The Side Gee Moore and Emanuel
Fatal Fatal DJ Pippi
Hipnotizing Kid Creme
Change The World DJ Oliver
Home Julie McKnight
Save Our Soul Bob Sinclair
Air Race Jose Nunez
I'd almost forgotten about this one until it became one of the Beyond anthems in 2003! Another reason why this club constantly reminds me of Ibiza...
