| COLIN PETERS Though I didn't know his name at the time, Colin Peters was responsible for one of my most memorable Manumission experiences, back in September 2001, with a closing set which included Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit", the themes from Dallas and the A-Team (amongst others), and "Teenage Dirtbag" from Wheatus! YOu had to be there, because it wasn't as naff as it might sound, being the culmination of almost eleven hours of partying. The following year, at Space's opening party, I was simultaneously introduced to Colin by both Jasmine and Martin DJ, Martin telling him that I was a music journalist - the first time I'd heard myself called that, which sounded pretty cool in Spanish! That's Martin DJ waving his arms in the air, during one of Colin's sets at Privilege's F*** House. Throughout the course of the summer, I'd hear Colin playing at Manumission and its Carry-On at Space, Casa de Fernando's F*** House, and a quiet little beach bar in Playa d'en Bossa by the name of Bora-Bora... It was here, on the final Saturday before it closed, that Colin became the first DJ to make me cry that summer (the previous year, I only had to catch the first few notes of "Another Chance" on the terrace of Space, or "Right On, Right On" with the sun climbing through the skylight at Amnesia, to set me off). Having spent more time at Bora-Bora than any other venue during 2002, every track that Colin played that day made me think of friends made and time spent at Bora-Bora during the previous months... some beautiful moments, and it all got too much for my tired and emotionally charged little body! When he wasn't playing with himself, Colin managed to introduce Martin DJ to the Ibiza club scene, and the two could often be seen playing with each other at Privilege, and even on one memorable occasion Space!
