                             |  MY BIRTHDAY Ibiza Web: discojunkie.net You've no idea how messy I can get in 24 hours, unless you were one of the many witnesses to my 2002 birthday celebrations, the first time they took place in Ibiza... After La Troya, I somehow ended up in a car with Flavio and his friends going to Space, where I spent about 8 hours util it closed at 4 o'clock in the afternoon... And nope, I can't remember any of it, apart from lots of Spanish girls running up to me throughout the day, singing 'Feliz Cumpleaños'! (how many people did I kiss in that restaurant?) My 2003 celebrations were quite tame by comparison, with no Des or Simon to egg me on to make a fool of myself, though Flavio did fly back for the day! Having been sacked for gross misconduct just two days before my birthday, I had plenty of time to enjoy the celebrations, which lasted three days this time... The crown started off on my head - IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY! - but ended up on Susana, as it turned out that she also shared the day with me and Gigi! Y'know, I can't remember what I did over the other two days. Let me have a think about it. I've just noticed that in 2004 my birthday's going to be on a Sunday, which means that if I start as normal at La Troya, I'm going to be out at least 72 hours before I even get a birthday kiss - and fuck off whoever said it'll be a lot longer than that! Taking into account the pre-birthday La Troya and the post-birthday La Troya, it's going to be an 8-day party altogether - quite appropropriate really considering how old I'm going to be - so I'd better get into training... Just be in Ibiza on 29 August and you get to see how Ibiza boys grow old really disgracefully!

Preparations started 2 days before, when my hair was cut, then the next day the bleaching and colouring took place. At midnight on the start of the celebrations, we were at Los Pasajeros restaurant, me already tiddly from the vodka my Italian roommate had been plying me with earlier. At the end of our meal - we had the balcony table, naturally - all the staff sang me 'Happy Birthday'! As that failed to embarass me in the slightest, the customers trying to eat their dinner were coerced into singing 'Feliz Cumpleaños' (Happy Birthday in Spanish), which prompted me to say thank you to every single customer by giving them a kiss. And that was only two hours into the celebrations... By the time I'd been down the street to see how many drinks I could get from Calle de La Virgen's terrified terrace waiters, and ran into Anfora to wish Gigi a happy birthday (we shared the 29th August between us), it was nudging 4am, and time to hit La Troya Asesina! 
Hand on heart, I can't remember much about the night, even though I'd asked DJ Oliver to play all my favourite records the week before, the actual birthday in my favourite club was a bit of a blur... Fortunately, as you can see from the equally blurred photos attached, I was doing plenty of running around, and making myself known!
After Space, there was Bora-Bora, and I have vague memories of people who couldn't make it to Space or Amnesia coming along to buy me drinks... and more drinks... and more drinks... I must have had at least 3 or 4 pints by the time I left Bora-Bora at midnight. Basically, of the 20 hours between 4am and midnight, I can account for about 8 minutes. 'Fortunately' for me, everyone else can remember all the other things I got up to! I kept the hair for a few more weeks, but it was starting to look a bit sad by the end of September!
