 AMARGO
C/ de La Virgen 22, Ibiza 07800, Spain
There once was a bar by the name of The Farting Monkey, a.k.a. El Mono Pedo (which, presumably, is Spanish for same, but I can't find 'pedo' in my dictionary...), and for that reason alone I was tempted to drink there. That, and the assistance of Jamal, who would drag unsuspecting passers-by into the bar and introduce them to the bar's manager Oliver (I think... it's been a few years), and he was more than enough temptation to stay and drink and more. As fortune would have it, El Mono Pedo didn't last more than one season, and the gorgeous Oliver buggered off to French pastures, and the bar was reborn for the next couple of years as Bar 22, under the watchful eye of Bar GC's former whipping-boy, and doubling first as an art gallery, and then as a clothes store, but never it would appear that successfully. For 2004, the bar has been refitted and refurbished as the much more attractive Amargo. The name may mean 'bitter', but the service isn't. If you want to be entertained, park your arse at the bar and order a vodka limón. The picture at the top is of the very beautiful bartender preparing same, and not only is the drink the cheapest of the bars in Calle de La Virgen, it is also the largest and most professionally prepared!
Trust me on this one: Bar Amargo; vodka limón; sit and watch...
