LAS SALINAS

Las Salinas, sister beach to Es Cavallet, has an almost entirely different character, as well as being distinctly more family-orientated.

Home to the world-famous Sa Trinxa music chiringuito, and the equally popular Jockey Club, the young and trendy visitors to the island dominate the sandy beach throughout the summer, eager to catch the hip beachlife on offer.

The location of the beach makes it easier to sunbathe, and until later in the day, than Es Cavallet, but even though it is much bigger than its idyllic neighbour, it can be hideously crowded during the height of the summer season, with August being an near-unmoving sea of bronzed Italians, disturbed only by the vigorous chucking of frizbees...

If you really want to experience Las Salinas at its best, head towards the tower at the southernmost tip of the beach, and find one of the more secluded coves in which to sunbathe.
